Leader of People’s Liberation Organization of Eelam (PLOTE) Dharmalingam Sithadthan said that at this juncture, there is a belief that Rajapaksa may do well at the upcoming elections. If that happens, then the whole process of finding a political solution for the national question will be disturbed or even shelved.

“Definitely no Sinhala leader will go against the will of the Sinhala people, in such a situation there will be no hope for the Tamils to go forward in the process of finding a political solution. We have seen such changes over the last 60 years. I think in the current context the government is reasonably unpopular,” he said.

உள்ளூராட்சி மன்றத் தேர்தலுக்காக விண்ணப்பித்த தபால் மூல வாக்காளர்களில், சுமார் 560,000 விண்ணப்பங்கள் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளதாக தேர்தல்கள் ஆணைக்குழு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

தபால்மூல வாக்காளர்களின் பெயர் பட்டியல் எதிர்வரும் 8ஆம் திகதி பூர்த்தி செய்யப்படும் என மேலதிக தேர்தல்கள் ஆணையாளர் சமன் ரத்னபிரிய குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். உள்ளூராட்சி மன்றத் தேர்தலுக்கான தபால்மூல வாக்களிப்பு எதிர்வரும் 25 மற்றும் 26 ஆம் திகதிகளில் நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

உத்தியோகபூர்வ விஜயம் மேற்கொண்டு ஜப்பான் வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் Taro Kono இன்று இலங்கைக்கு வரவுள்ளார். மேலும் இந்த விஜயத்தின் போது அவர், ஜனாதிபதி மைத்திரிபால சிறிசேன, பிரதமர் ரணில் விக்ரமசிங்க உள்ளிட்ட முக்கிய தலைவர்களையும் சந்திக்கவுள்ளார்.

இதேவேளை, சுமார் 15 வருடங்களின் பின்னர் ஜப்பான் வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் ஒருவர் இலங்கைக்கு வரவுள்ளமை இங்கு குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
